Russia ranked the first, followed by Uzbekistan. Belarus and Kazakhstan came second, while China and Iran ranked third.
Alongside hosting the “Emergency Area” event of the games, the VPA sent teams to other events, including “Tank Biathlon” (Russia), “Army of Culture” (Russia), “Military Medical Relay Race” (Russia), “Special Sprint” (Russia), “Safe Environment” (Uzbekistan), “Field Kitchen” (Uzbekistan), “Confident Reception” (Belarus), “Tactical Shooter” (Kazakhstan), and “Meridian” (Kazakhstan), according to PANO.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Colonel Karshiev Khamdam Alikulovic, Deputy Minister of Defense of Uzbekistan expressed his gratitude to the countries that enthusiastically sent their teams to compete in the competitions held in Uzbekistan; at the same time, appreciate the efforts and performances of all teams at Army Games 2022.
In particular, the “Emergency Area” of the VPA bagged home a gold medal. The silver medals belonged to the “Army of Culture” and “Confident Reception” teams.
The female crew of the “Confident Reception” team, the “Military Medical Relay Race,” “Safe Environment,” and “Field Kitchen” teams won bronze medals for the VPA.
The Vietnamese team came fourth behind strong rivals from China, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan in Group 2 of the “Tank Biathlon” semifinals at the ongoing Army Games 2022 on August 24 in Russia.
This was the first time the Vietnam People's Army tank team have advanced to the semifinals in the category.
The “Special Sprint” contingent ranked third, behind Russia and Belarus. In addition, the contingent also bagged two individual awards, which were the best K59 shooting award for Sergeant Bui Trong Tien and Staff Sergeant Nguyen Duy Thang and the best demining award for Sergeant Bui Trong Tien.
“Despite the harsh weather conditions and regulations of the competition, the whole contingent overcame difficulties to accomplish their competition as quickly as possible,” shared Sergeant Bui Trong Tien.
In this year’s event, the Vietnamese chemical team outstandingly won a bronze medal, an impressive achievement of the team since 2019.
Apart from the bronze medal, the Vietnamese chemical troops also brought home individual awards. In particular, First Lieutenant Nguyen Duc Son was named outstanding shooter; First Lt. Vu Duy Khang outstanding head of crew; Captain Tran Trong Phu outstanding scout; non-commissioned Second Lt. Le Xuan Sang outstanding driver. Notably, Senior Captain Le Minh Hoanh won the eminent referee award.
Army Games 2022 took place from August 13-27, bringing together 264 teams from 34 countries worldwide. Its competitions were held in Russia and 11 other countries, namely Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, China, Iran, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Venezuela and Vietnam.
This was also the first time an event of the games took place in a South American country, Venezuela and two countries, Bolivia and Rwanda, sent their troops to the games.
This year, Vietnam hosted the Games’ competitions in the category of “Emergency Area”.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi had come to cheer for the Vietnamese team in the semifinals at the Alabino training ground in Moscow region.
Talking to the Vietnam News Agency's resident correspondent, the diplomat affirmed that Vietnam's participation demonstrated the close cooperation between Vietnam and Russia in all fields, especially in security and defense, especially when the two nations are celebrating their 10th founding anniversary of comprehensive strategic partnership. This also shows that the Vietnamese military is integrating into the world, and striving to ensure peace, security and stability in the region and around the world, he noted.
On August 21, the “Army of Culture” team of Vietnam joined others from 12 countries in a performance for the online vote at the Patriot Convention and Exhibition Centre on the outskirts of Moscow.
Previously, the team collaborated with the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia and the Vietnamese Association in Russia to organise an art programme called "Giai dieu to quoc” (Motherland Melody) to serve the Vietnamese expats living, working and studying in the country.
During the Army Games 2022, the high-ranking VPA delegation also attended the International Military-Technical Forum 2022 and the 10th Moscow Conference on International Security.
