On April 14, in Hanoi, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) held a conference on the implementation of credit activities for the year 2021 of the banking sector.

Speaking at the conference, Governor Nguyen Thi Hong stated that the State Bank of Vietnam gives the general credit growth orientation for 2021 to be 12%, reasonable growth with credit quality improvement associated with production and business activities, as well as control the areas of potential risks, continue to remove difficulties for people and businesses.

With the general credit growth orientation for 2021, the Governor asked commercial banks to expand credit management in line with credit quality following the guidelines of the Government, the State Bank of Vietnam, under the structure of Risk prevention ensures that the operation always meets the people's ability to pay at any given time.

Talking with the leaders of commercial banks, Governor Nguyen Thi Hong said that recently on the media have questions about whether credit growth has entered the risky field when channels investment such as real estate, securities incredibly increased. Banks need to check to see what sector credit growth in the 1st quarter, whether it goes into potentially risky areas, bank leaders need to pay attention to this issue.

Credit institutions have also drastically implemented solutions to support people and businesses to overcome difficulties caused by the Covid-19 epidemic, as of the end of March 2021, the nearly 263 thousand customers are affected by Covid-19 with outstanding loans of more than 353 trillion dong; Interest rates exemption, cut and reduction for more than 660 thousand customers with outstanding loans of more than 1.27 million billion VND, particularly credit institutions that have provided new loans with lower interest rates than before with accumulated sales from January 23, 2020, until now, reaching more than VND 3 million billion for more than 452 thousand customers.
