The senior Party official had a working session with the Standing Committee of Bac Tu Liem District Party Committee on May 6, discussing the results of political mission performance in the district as well as key tasks for the near future.
Praising the Hanoi urban district’s achievement of important results in its socio-economic development, Secretary Hue also pointed to limitations that Bac Tu Liem still needs to address, especially regarding its economic restructuring being not commensurate with its potential.
The senior city leader, who is also a Politburo member, requested the district transform its economy in the direction of boosting trade and services to ensure a sustainable budget collection structure.
In the immediate future, the local authorities should focus on the restoration of socio-economic activities after the easing of coronavirus restrictions, consider the ensuring of social security and economic development as its top political tasks.
Hue suggested the district strive to achieve economic growth at 1.5 times higher than the average growth of the whole capital city, as well as setting the target of per capita income at the end of the 2020-2025 term at double the current level, reaching VND120 million per person.
Hue said that the development planning of Bac Tu Liem must be linked to the development axis of the West Lake - Ba Vi District, focusing on developing high quality and high added value services, such as finance - banking and insurance, in addition to promoting hi-tech agriculture, perfecting social infrastructure and attaching importance to the "green, clean and liveable" factors in all local development requirements.
To do so, local leaders were asked to create the most favourable conditions for Bac Tu Liem’s economic development, especially removing obstacles in administrative procedures.
Reports at the meeting showed that in 2019, the district reached 100% of its planned targets, with six out of 28 targets exceeding the set plans. In the first four months this year, local budget revenue reached over VND2.3 trillion (equivalent to 76.5% of the estimate), an increase of VND1.3 trillion compared to the same period last year. By April 24, the district had commenced two projects and another 20 will follow in May. This year, Bac Tu Liem plans to carry out site clearance on 130 projects, including 25 key projects at the city and district level. The district has also set a target of reducing its number of disadvantaged households to 0% by year end.
