On the afternoon of March 5, 2019, Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan welcomed and worked with the delegation of the National Assembly of Laos led by its Chairwoman Pany Yathotou.

The visit is aimed at together assessing the results of cooperation in the past two years, in the spirit of the cooperation protocol between the two National Assemblies.
The Chairwoman of the National Assembly of Laos affirmed that the support of the National Assembly of Vietnam has made a contribution to boosting the capabilities of operation of the National Assembly, the People’s Council as well as the deputies of the National Assembly and the People’s Council of Laos in recent time.
The Chairwoman of the National Assembly of Laos expressed her thanks to the Party, State and people of Vietnam for having built the House of the National Assembly of Laos as a gift.
At the working session, Chairwoman of the National Assembly of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan congratulated the great achievements recorded by Laos in the security-political, economic-social, cultural-educational fields and in the improvement of the spiritual and material life of the Lao people, thus lifting constantly the position and prestige of Laos in the region and the world.
On the relationship between the two National Assemblies, it is unanimously agreed to continue the constant exchange and maintenance of the visits of senior leaders; enhance the monitoring of the effective implementation of the agreements already signed between the ministries, sectors and localities between the two countries.
Also at the working session, the two leaders of the two National Assemblies discussed about the common monitoring work by the National Assemblies of the two countries concerning the implementation of the Agreement on settling the free immigration issue and illegitimate marriages in the border areas between the two countries in 2019.
It is proposed that in the coming time, the two sides should share experience and coordinate to set up a common working mission of the two countries to supervise on the spot the operation at the border gates between the two countries with a view to removing difficulties, making a contribution to boosting trade turnover between Vietnam and Laos./.
Safety Year for Women and Children in 2019 launched
On the occasion of the anniversary of the Uprising of Two Sisters Trung and the International Women’s Day (March 8), a launching ceremony of the Safety Year for Women and Children in 2019 was organized in Hanoi on March 6, 2019 in the presence of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc pointed out that in the past years, the Party and the State have held the consistent viewpoints on ensuring the rights for the people, including women and children. Vietnam is the first country in Asia and the second in the world to ratify the Convention on Rights of the Child on February 20, 1990.
Women have taken part in making a lot of contributions to the national construction and defense, serving as a great force in all areas of life and occupying a lot of important positions of the country, of ministries and of localities.
The State has provided free health insurance for all children under 6 years old. About 100% of children under one year old nationwide have been given expanded vaccination and around 90% of children with special situations have enjoyed the social welfare policy.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister called on the enterprises, individuals and organizations at home and abroad to accompany with the Government and the Vietnam Women’s Union in implementing the goals for the safety of women and children, for gender equality and sustainable development./.
Forbes announces 5 most influential Vietnamese women in 2019
On March 4, 2019, Forbes-Vietnam –the top prestigious business magazine in Vietnam published the list of 50 most influential Vietnamese women in 2019.

This is the seonc time that Forbes Vietnam has announced this list that includes the outstanding women in the political, business, scientific, educational, social, communication, arts, innovation and sports fields.
For instance, in the business area, there are 20 top female leaders who manifest their abilities and influences, and the most outstanding of them are, just cite a few, Ms Tran Thi Le, General Director of NutiFood stock company; Mai Kieu Lien, General Director of Vinamilk and Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, General Director of Vietjet Air.

The Ao dai Festival in Ho Chi Minh City was opened on March 2, 2019 on Nguyen Hue Walking Street. The even attracted the great number of local spectators and travelers.
About 3,000 women in Ho Chi Minh City in ao dai join a mass performance just to call on people to keep the fine features of ao dai of Vietnam
This is the 6th consecutive festival of ao dai being organized by Ho Chi Minh City to honor the traditional dress of Vietnam and to promote tourism.
26 top ao dai designers of Vietnam have joined the event. On the other hand, ao dai designer from the Republic of Korea also participated in the occasion and introduced his set of ao dai.
On the morning of March 3, 2019, on the walking street of Nguyen Hue, Ho Chi Minh City, over 3,000 women in ao dai (traditional long dress of Vietnamese women) participated in a mass performance just to call on all people to keep and promote the fine features of ao dai of Vietnam.
The festival will last until March 17, 2019 and it is being organized in a lot of famous locations in the city, wuch as the walking streets of Nguyen Hue and Bui Vien; the Youth Culture House; the Women Culture House, the Ao dai Museum and others./.

These US dollar billionaires of Vietnam are Pham Nhat Vuong, President of Vingroup; Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, CEO of VietJet Air; Tran Ba Duong, President of Thaco; Nguyen Dang Quang, President of Masan and Ho Hungh Anh, President of Techcombank./.
Electricity price can be increased by over 8% in March
The Ministry of Inudstry and Trade has officially submitted a plan on an increase of 8% of electricity price, ensuring that this plan has made no effect on CPI and GDP.
Specifically, electricity price will increase by 8.36% as compared wo the average current power price (not include VAT yet). This plan is expected to be carried out in March 2019.
The electricity price hike this time, according to the explanation of the authorities, is aimed at making the electricity market healthier.
On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue said that the electricity price adjustment should ensure the attraction of investors in energy and save production and consumption costs. The power industry should cut down further production costs via the production, labor and technological application, he stressed.
