General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and a high-ranking delegation of Vietnam on September 5, 2018 left Hanoi for an official visit to the Russian Federation on September 5-8, 2018 at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

On September 6, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong held talks with President Vladimir Putin.
The Russian President affirmed that Russia has always considered Vietnam as its primary important partner in the Asia-Pacific region and believed that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s visit will be an important milestone that helps create a new impulsive force for the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong affirmed that Vietnam has consistently considered Russia as its top important and reliable partner and stressed that the Vietnamese people have always borne in mind the whole-hearted support and assistance reserved by the Russian people for Vietnam in the past as well as at present.
The two leaders have expressed their satisfaction with the all-sided development of the relations between the two countries in recent time and unanimously agreed that the traditional, well-tested and fine relations between Vietnam and the Russian Federation will be the priceless common asset of the two nations. So it needs being preserved and promoted.
The two sides have unanimously agreed to coordinate to organize successfully the Russia Year in Vietnam and the Vietnam Year in Russia on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of signing the Treaty on the Fundamental Principles of the friendly relationship between Vietnam and the Russian Federation in 2019 and the 70th anniversary of establishing the diplomatic relations in 2020.
On this occasion, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has with best regard extended an invitation to the Russian President to visit Vietnam again in 2019 and President Vladimir Putin has gladly accepted it.
Earlier on September 5, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong had the audience with Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the Party of United Russia Dmitry Medvedev.
Within the framework of the visit, on September 6, the two leaders witnessed the signing ceremony of many documents of cooperation between the two countries./.
24 secondary school and university students attends new academic year
On the morning of September 5, 2018, nearly 24 million secondary school and university students nationwide attended the opening ceremony of the new academic years 2018-2019.

The heavy rains and flash floods in recent time have ravaged the material basis of a lot of schools in mountain provinces. However, with great efforts of local administrations, the new school year 2018-2019 is still welcomed nationwide.
President Tran Dai Quang, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan together with other leaders of the Party, Government, provinces and cities attended the opening ceremony.
President Tran Dai Quang sent a letter to teachers and students nationwide, saying that entering the new school year, the educational sector should promote the recorded results and implementing synchronously the tasks of fundamental and all-round renewal of the educational and training work in service of national industrialization and modernization and international integration.
Attention should be paid to the educational work in the remote mountainous areas where mostly populated by the ethnic minority people and to children of families enjoying the better social policy. The President wished that teachers should promote their teaching enthusiasm and students should display the tradition of studiousness and the will to strive for achieving their dreams.
The educational sector is preparing to carry out the new universal educational program in accordance with Resolution 51/2017/QH 14./.

Ngoc Linh ginseng with its potential of value will be able to develop a growing and processing industry of this ginseng in Vietnam. However, Vietnam should have a direction and way of developing this industry in the country so that it could be able to see a fast and sustainable development. Vietnam leads world in terms of index of start-up spirit
According to the latest survey of the start-up spirit (AGER 2018), Vietnam continues to occupying the leading position in the world concerning the start-up spirit.

This is the 8th report and the 3rd year when Vietnam has appeared in this report.
The report on the start-up spirit 2018 (AGER 2018) under the theme “Element to promote start-up spirit” has attracted nearly 49,000 from 44 countries to participate in the survey.
Vietnam has firmly occupied the first position in terms of the index of start-up spirit; the runners-up are India, China, Malaysia, South Africa and so on.
The report this year has analyzed the elements which make the start-up people believe in their success. That these people have decided to carry on their start-up activities helps nurture effectively the start-up community. On the other hand, the Government and enterprises have also decided to help the start-up people begin their business activities and promote their potential in the areas they are doing business./.
First university in Vietnam attains 4-star standard

Vietnam imports most from China, exports most to USA
According to date from the Ministry of Planning and Investment, export turnover of Vietnam in August 2018 is estimated at USD 20.90 billion, or accrued number in 8 months of 2018 is put at USD 155,41 billion, a y.o.y 14.5% increase.

The USA is the largest export market of Vietnam with export turnover being put at USD 30.2 billion, a y.o.y 10.2% increase; it is followed by EU with USD 27.7 billion, a 10.8% increase and China, with USD 23.4 billion, a 25.2% increase.
China remains the biggest import market of Vietnam with import turnover standing at USD 41.4%, a y.o.y 12.8% increase; South Korea is the second biggest import market of Vietnam with import turnover being put at USD 30.8 billion, a 1.9% increase.
So, the USA and China are the biggest trade partners of Vietnam./.
Vietnamese delegation brings home 7 gold medals at 12th ASEAN Skills Competition
The 12th ASEAN Skills Competition was organized at the Convention and Exhibition Centre IMPACT, Nonthaburi Province, Thailand, on Augst 28 to September 5, 2018.

The competition brought together 331 competitors from 10 ASEAN countries competing for medals in 26 official skills and 2 performing skills.
The Vietnamese delegation had 52 competitors in all 26 skills and had recorded remarkable achievements in 22 skills out of 24 official skills with the total of 32,576 points, ranking the second after the delegation of Thailand.
In terms of the number of medals won, the Vietnamese delegation ranks the third with the total 7 gold medals, 7 silver medals and 6 bronze medals, together with 16 Certificates of excellent skills.
-Gold medals comprise: CNC Maintenance; IT Software Solutions for Business; Information Network Cabling; Wall and Floor Tiling and Bricklaying;
- Silver medals: Mechatronics; Mobile Robotics; Electronics; Information Network Cabling and Wall and Floor Tiling;
- Bronze medals: Industrial Automation; Web Design and Development; IT Software Solutions and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning.
