Prime Minister hosts banquet on occasion of September 2

On the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of the National Day, September 2, on the night of 31 August, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and his wife hosted a banquet in honor of ambassadors, representatives and chiefs of representatives of the international organizations in Vietnam.

On behalf of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, warmly welcoming the distinguished guests - the close friends for coming to attend the banquet in celebration of the 72nd anniversary of the National Day, the Prime Minister said that the world is changing rapidly, the 4th Industrial Revolution is changing the mode of creating materials and the life of the people in the world. The world is facing the challenges of turning back to protectionism, the energy security, sources of water, terrorism and climate change and right in Asia, a number of hot points are developing very complicatedly, threatening peace and stability.

“From the depth of pains and losses of the resistance war, the Vietnamese people understand profoundly the value of peace. We have always tried our best to together with the international community to strive for a world without war, humanity without hunger and poverty, for mutual development for prosperity” – the Prime Minister said, further affirming – “The echo of the oath of Independence has always urged the Vietnamese people to unite to together overcome difficulties and challenges, to fight undauntedly for independence and freedom and reunification of the Fatherland, advancing firmly and strongly in the process of Renovation.”

The Prime Minister stressed that Vietnam is proactive in boosting cooperation and integration with the international community, making great efforts to build an ASEAN Community of solidarity, consensus and strengthening of its central role. Especially Vietnam is striving to implement satisfactorily the role of a host to the APEC Year 2017 with the goal of boosting integration and regional linkage.

On behalf of the Party, State and people of Vietnam, the Prime Minister expressed his sincere thanks to the governments and people of the countries, regional and international organizations and international partners and friends for their continued precious support and effective cooperation with Vietnam.

Speaking on behalf of the ambassadors, representatives and chiefs of representatives of the international organizations in Hanoi, Jorge Rondon Uzcategui, Venezuelan Ambassador, Chief of the Diplomatic Corps in Hanoi warmly congratulated the Vietnamese people, the Party and Government of Vietnam on the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of the National Day./.

 

SOM 3 – APEC 2017 is crowned with success and Vietnam’s imprints

The 3rd Senior Officials Meeting of APEC (SOM 3) came to an end in Ho Chi Minh City on the afternoon of August 30, 2017.

The SOM3 has been judged as a success by the APEC economic representatives. Vietnam was good at hosting the group meetings, seminars and dialogues relating to anti-corruption, the commodity origin, trans-border e-commerce, the participation of small and medium-sized enterprises in the supply chain of logistic services, among others.

The members at the meeting also deal with the implementation of the Bogo commitment and shared information and experience in participating in the regional economic linkages and the free trade agreements.

Especially, the representatives shared a lot of viewpoints and experience in negotiating, signing and implementing the RTAa/FTAs in the Asia-Pacific region. They also highly appreciated the role of Vietnam in the dialogues and it is important that Vietnam has put forth the initiative “Inclusive development in economy, finance and society”.

With about 80 different activities in 13 days with the participation of 3,000 delegates, including a lot of ministers, deputy ministers of the APEC members countries, representatives of the regional and international organizations, enterprises, scholars and the domestic and international media./.

 

Documentary film “The Torch of the Century” is aired on National Day

With the theme “The Revolutionary Road”, the documentary film “the Torch of the Century” will be aired by the Vietnam Television on channel VTV1 right on the National Day, September 2.

“The Revolutionary Road” is the collection of lectures by leader Nguyen Ai Quoc at the training course of officials of the Vietnam Association of Revolutionary Youth, organized in Guangzhou, China in the 1925-1927 period

This is the journey to take us back to the past, in search of the footprints of President Ho Chi Minh from the time when he was a patriotic youth who embarked on the road in search of the way for national salvation and liberation.

The Torch of the Century is a documentary film implemented by directors Nguyen Quoc Khanh and Ta Quynh Tu on the basis of exploiting the ever-lasting value of the work “The Revolutionary Road” by President Ho Chi Minh. The film will help the audience understand about the process of forming this famous works and the difficult journey of the young patriot Nguyen Ai Quoc on the way in search of national salvation.

The film lasts 50 minutes with a lot of images of Nguyen Ai Quoc together with international friends. On the other hand, there are a lot of documents to help the audience understand better the bumpy road Nguyen Ai Quoc had traversed in search of the national salvation. 

The film is of great significance when it is aired right at the time when we are celebrating the 90th anniversary of the birth of the “Revolutionary Road” works./.

 

Vietnam requests China not to complicate further the East Sea situation

On August 31, 2017, Vietnam expressed its concern over China’s announcement of its military exercise at the gate of the Tonkin Gulf.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang

Answering the questions put by the press people on the fact that China has announced about its military exercises at the gate of the Tonkin Gulf, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang said:

“Vietnam is extremely concerned over that fact that China has announced its military exercises in the area at the gate of the Tonkin Gulf. The standpoint of Vietnam is that all the operations of a foreign country in the marine area under the right to sovereignty and the jurisdiction of Vietnam must be carried out in conformity with the stipulations of Vietnam law and international law, especially the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea in 1982.”

“Vietnam requests China to stop it and not repeat the actions to further complicate the situation in the East Sea” – the spokesperson stressed.

The same day, a representative of the Vietnam Foreign Ministry contacted with a representative of the Chinese Embassy in Hanoi to point out Vietnam’s standpoint./.

 

Government holds its regular meeting in August

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc chaired the Goernment regular meeting in August on August 30, 2017 to judge the social and economic development situation in August and in the past 8 months of 2017.

Export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fisheries products in 8 months is estimated at USD 3.1 billion, taking the total export value in the past 8 months to USD 23.66 billion, y.o.y increase of 13.5%

Speaking to open the meeting, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that August is the point of time when a lot of the social and economic targets have been reached. If this result can be maintained in the coming months, it is possible to obtain the goals of the 2017 plan.

In recent time, inflation has been controlled with CPI in August increasing by 0.92% and in 8 months, it increases by 3.84%, while export has increased vigorously by 18%, thus helping reduce trade deficit in 8 months. Tourism has vigorously increased with the highest ever number of international visitors with 1.23 million tourist arrivals in August, increasing the number of international visitors in the past 8 months by 30% year on year. FDI capital in the past 8 months is put at USD 23.3 billion.

Business environment has repeatedly improved with business activities happening animatedly. The social security policies continue to be implemented satisfactorily and the people’s health has been well cared and the political security and social law and order have been maintained and stabilized.

However, the bad weather with a lot of storms and floods has caused a lot of difficulties to the national economy./.

Vietnam’s Gold Book 2017 made public

The Vietnam Fatherland Front in coordination with the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Union of the Scientific and Technological Associations of Vietnam on August 28, 2017 organized a ceremony to announce the Vietnam’s Gold Book in 2017 and launched the emulation movement “Creative Unity”.

At the ceremony, the Vietnam’s Gold Book was made public with 72 works and scientific and technological creative solutions. These are the typical scientific and technological creative works and initiatives of great value relating to health, environment and social-economic development.

The event is aimed at not only honoring the scientists and the scientific and technological achievements, but also raising the awareness and stoking the pride among the Vietnamese in Vietnamese mind and dedication to creative labor.

On this occasion, an emulation movement was launched for all the Vietnamese at home and abroad.  This is hoped to make a contribution to perfecting the mechanism, policy and application of the scientific and technological achievements in practical life.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed that the Government has always paid great attention to the scientific and technological development and reserved the best conditions so that scientists can be able to promote their talent, creativity and devotion of the Fatherland./.

 

Over one million international tourist arrivals in August

In August, there were about 1.2 million international tourist arrivals, a 18.5% increase over July and a 35.1% increase over August 2016.

With this growth in tourism, it is highly expected to welcome 13 million international tourists in 2017

This is the 6th time when the Vietnam tourism could welcome 1 million international tourists in a month. This figure has raised the number of international visitors to Vietnam in 8 months to 8.5 million tourist arrivals, a y.o.y 29.7% increase.

At the same time, there was an estimated number of 52.8 domestic tourists in 8 months with the total revenue of VND 335,000 billion, a y.o.y 26.7% increase. With this growth in tourism, it is expected to have 13 billion international tourist arrivals in 2017./.

 

Vietnam dragon fruit is supplied with “visa” to Australia

Until now, Vietnam is the first country that has been given with the permit to export dragon fruit to Australia.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade has just announced the information that Australia has officially allowed to import Vietnam’s dragon fruit. So, until now, Vietnam is the only country that is licensed to export fresh dragon fruit to Australia.

This is followed by the litchi and mango fruits that are the first fruits of Vietnam to be exported to Australia. Before being exported to Australia, dragon fruit must go through quarantine and granted with the certificate by the Vietnam Plant Protection Department.

Dragon fruit must have its origin from Vietnam. Dragon fruit is grown in Binh Thuan, Tien Giang and Long An provinces of Vietnam./.

 

Work off 600 young intellectuals acting as deputy chairman of poor communes under review

The Ministry of Internal Affairs on August 29, 2017 held a conference to review the pilot project to send 600 young intellectuals with university level to act as the Vice-Chairmen of the Communal People’s Committees in 64 poor districts nationwide.

Young intellectual Dinh The Anh, Vice-Chairman of Ta Xua People’s Committee

Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh chaired the meeting. By implementing Decision No. 170 of the Government in 2011, 580 young intellectuals were selected for training to be vice-chairmen of the People’s Committee in poor communes nationwide.

After the training course, 322 out of 580 team members were distributed to take charge of economic affairs; 280 member to take charge of the cultural-social aspects.

As a result, after a definite time, these young intellectual have made positive contributions to building the political system in the communal People’s Committees. They have also made concrete contributions to the socio-economic development.

After 5 years of implementing the task, these 600 young intellectuals have fulfilled their obligations as Vice-chairmen of the communal People’s Committee and most of them have been officially appointed to the similar positions./.

 

Vietnam ranks third in SEA Games 29

The Vietnamese sports delegation is ranked third at the SEA Games 29 with 58 gold medals in Malaysia.

Pencak silat team wins 3 gold medals at the Games

At the SEA Games 29, the Vietnamese sports delegation won 58 gold medals, 50 silver medals and 60 bronze medals.

This achievement has helped the Vietnamese delegation to stay the third on the table. The host country Malaysia stays the top of the table with 145 gold medals, 92 silver medals and 86 bronze medals.

The Thai sports delegation ranks second with 72 gold medals, 86 silver medals and 88 bronze medals./.
